Chelsea transfer blow as Italian giants join battle for £20m Spain playmaker

Juventus have joined Chelsea in the transfer battle for Real Madrid’s Isco Alarcon, reports from Italy claim.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport [via AS], the Serie A champions are keen on addressing their options in midfield following the departure of Andrea Pirlo to New York City, as well as the uncertain future of Arturo Vidal, and are turning their attentions to the Spain international.

Reports suggest that Los Blancos could struggle to keep hold of the playmaker this summer, as not only are Juve said to be interested, as La Gazzetta dello Sport claim, but Chelsea allegedly made an opening offer of £20m for his signature last week and were set to return with an improved bid [via The Guardian].

Interestingly, the Italian outfit’s manager Massimiliano Allegri has expressed his admiration for Blues midfielder Oscar [via the Mirror], but his reported wish to sign Isco could suggest that the west London heavyweights will not be selling the Brazil international in the coming weeks.
