Angel Di Maria PSG: Five players Man United could get in player-exchange for £59.7m superstar including Zlatan

Angel Di Maria appears to be closing in on a departure from Manchester United, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly close to completing a deal for the Argentine wideman.

The Albiceleste winger arrived from Real Madrid last summer, but failed to impress at Old Trafford, despite contributing 10 assists in the EPL.

While PSG are closing in on a £45.9 million deal to sign the player, could United not leverage the French champions’ interest to nab a player or two from the Parc des Princes?

Here are five players they should think about signing in return for ADM.

Edinson Cavani
Earlier in the month, Edinson Cavani was rumoured to be under consideration by United as a potential swap-deal replacement for Angel Di Maria.

The Red Devils could do a lot worse!

The Uruguayan bagged 18 in the league last season, despite spending much of the campaign on the flank, and would surely thrive at United as a centre-forward. The prospect of a Cavani-Rooney attacking pairing could be devastating.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Zlatan has been one of the key figures (if not the most influential individual) in PSG’s rise over the last few seasons, but his time at the Parc des Princes may be coming to an end.

The Swede has lost some of his dressing room clout, and the rumoured arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo would surely push him towards the exit door.

Ezequiel Lavezzi
Ezequiel Lavezzi may find himself squeezed out of the PSG team following the arrival of Di Maria. The Argentine forward has not always imposed himself in light of competition from the likes of Javier Pastore and Lucas Moura, and his compatriot’s arrival may push him further forwards the exit door.

Eight goals in 31 league outings last term isn’t a glowing commendation, but Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked to the forward.

Marco Verratti
Marco Verratti is the kind of player who could transform a midfield and become the mainstay of United’s starting XI for a decade.

He has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and Barcelona, although United will surely have been keeping tabs on one of the finest young midfielders in the game.

However, having already signed Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, would Louis van Gaal want to invest further in his midfield?

Salvatore Sirigu
The PSG goalkeeper is understood to be considering his options at the Parc des Princes, following the club’s acquisition of Kevin Trapp. Sirigu has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, but might United take a look at the Italy international?

The 28-year-old would be an adequate replacement for David De Gea should he leave for Real Madrid, and would provide stern competition for Sergio Romero.
