Five reasons Arsenal WILL sign Karim Benzema or Robert Lewandowski this summer, including Chelsea factor

Why Arsenal fans should expect a deal for Benzema or Lewandowski!

A look at five reasons Arsenal WILL sign a world class striker this summer, amid rumours that the Gunners are chasing Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema and Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski

1) Possible Welbeck exit

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said last summer that if he’d been in the country on the day of the Danny Welbeck deal, the former Manchester United man probably wouldn’t have joined. After an unconvincing season, the England international has been linked with a quick exit to Turkish club Besiktas, and it would be no surprise if Wenger decided to get rid of the flop and replace him with a genuine world class talent up top.

2) Sanchez was top scorer last season

Welbeck didn’t do his job for Arsenal last season, scoring only 8 goals, while Olivier Giroud didn’t do much better with 18. Between them, they only managed one more than the Gunners’ top scorer Alexis Sanchez, who scored 25 despite spending most of the campaign either out wide or behind the main centre-forward. Although the Chilean is an excellent performer and good player to rely on, he needs more help in the scoring department.

3) Chelsea won the league with a top striker

As is often the case with Premier League champions, Chelsea won the league last season due to the presence of a world class striker. Diego Costa managed 20 goals despite spending a lot of time out injured, and Sergio Aguero finished top scorer in England with Manchester City, who will surely mount a stronger challenge for the title this term. Arsenal don’t currently come close to matching that – and Chelsea have added Radamel Falcao as an option from the bench!

4) Arsenal are ambitious now

Having signed players like Sanchez and Mesut Ozil in the last couple of summers – and indeed Petr Cech this year – Arsenal have shown they CAN compete in the transfer market for players like Benzema and Lewandowski, so there’s no reason for the club’s fans to feel the pair are out of their reach financially, or in terms of the ambition Arsenal can offer as they establish themselves as in the trophy-winning business again.

5) Ronaldo is set to play up front for Real

Would Benzema have any reason to move this summer? Apparently, he could be replaced up front by Cristiano Ronaldo this season, with new manager Rafael Benitez planning some tactical changes. If the Frenchman is only on the bench, he will struggle to get into his national side on a regular basis and will want to get himself a move to ensure he is playing week in, week out.
