Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino helped himself to a hat-trick as Liverpool beat Welsh outfit TNS 5-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Monday afternoon.
The 23-year-old joined the Reds for a reported £29million fee earlier in the transfer window from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim and made his Premier League debut for the club as a late substitute in the 1-0 win over Stoke City at the weekend.
But after joining up with the squad late because of his exploits at the Copa America tournament earlier in the summer, manager Brendan Rodgers decided to give his new signing another run-out in order to get him up to speed in terms of match sharpness.
Firmino was named in a strong squad alongside the likes of Emre Can, Kolo Toure, Mamadou Sakho and Danny Ings, with the latter providing an assist for one of the Brazilian’s three goals during the game that took place at the club’s Melwood training ground.
The Reds welcome newly-promoted AFC Bournemouth to Anfield next Monday and Firmino’s goals could see him start the game against the Cherries and if so he will hoping to get off the mark in an competitive fixture.
