Chelsea crisis: Five players fans will WISH they’d never let go, including Liverpool & Man Utd stars

Could these five cast-offs have eased the Chelsea crisis?

As the Chelsea crisis worsened this weekend with a damning 3-0 defeat to title rivals Manchester City, here’s a look at five players the Blues sold far too soon…fans will wish they could have these ‘flops’ back after they’ve shone elsewhere!

1) Kevin De Bruyne (Wolfsburg)

Barely given a game in his time with Chelsea, Belgian winger Kevin De Bruyne has since moved to Wolfsburg for just £16m and is now worth over £50m after some sensational form in the Bundesliga, making him a top transfer target and likely new addition at rivals Manchester City this summer. A huge mistake by Jose Mourinho in the transfer market that WILL come back to haunt him.

2) Juan Mata (Manchester United)

Chelsea’s best player for two seasons in a row, Juan Mata was inexplicably shown the door at Stamford Bridge after Mourinho didn’t take a shining to him. The classy Spanish playmaker is now at Manchester United and is slowly rediscovering his best form as he threatens to help the Red Devils beat his old club to the title.

3) Romelu Lukaku (Everton)

One of the best young strikers in Europe, Romelu Lukaku may have brought in a decent transfer fee at £28m, but wouldn’t Chelsea rather have the player considering how they’ve spent since then? Replaced by a 36-year-old Didier Drogba, who has since left to be replaced by a dreadfully over-the-hill Radamel Falcao, this is another massive error by Mourinho.

4) Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool)

Although he has had injury problems at Liverpool, Daniel Sturridge has proven himself to be one of the best strikers in the Premier League at Anfield, having been used sparingly at Chelsea, and often played out wide when he did get a game. Why can’t this club recognise top talent when it’s right there in front of them?

5) Mohamed Salah (AS Roma)

Only loaned out rather than sold, but the immensely talented Mohamed Salah looks to have no future at Chelsea after joining AS Roma, despite his replacement, Juan Cuadrado, looking hugely ineffective since moving to the west London giants.
