Chelsea 1-2 Crystal Palace: Three Blues players who aren’t good enough, including ex-Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas

Chelsea 1-2 Crystal Palace – three weak points the Blues must improve on.

With Chelsea 1-2 Crystal Palace continuing the Premier League champions’ poor start to the season this weekend, it seems clear the Blues need even more work done in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Chelsea may have run away with the title last term, but they are already eight points behind league leaders Manchester City and have a mountain to climb to retain their title.

With that in mind, these three look to be the main culprits of the team’s downfall and need replacing quickly:

1) Branislav Ivanovic

Over just a couple of months, Branislav Ivanovic has gone from one of Chelsea’s best and most reliable performers to a total liability. The Serbian right-back has had a nightmare first few games, unable to cope with any winger with pace and making one error after another with costly results.

2) Cesc Fabregas

Previously one of the best players in the Premier League, Cesc Fabregas looks a spent force after a real dip in form in the second half of last season and a poor start to this one. Struggling to show his best creative form, the Spaniard should be replaced by a truly world class midfielder or playmaker, such as Paul Pogba or Koke.

3) Willian

Played in the number ten role in Chelsea 1-2 Crystal Palace, Willian has continued to look a little lost in this Chelsea team and can no longer be considered a reliable option. Oscar will be an improvement when he returns from injury, but there’s no doubt the Blues could do with a better goalscorer like Antoine Griezmann or a Marco Reus-type to play alongside the quality signing that is Pedro.
