Some players really do keep going for a long time – you all know about recent big names such as Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Andrea Pirlo making moves to the MLS, but some of these from our top ten are sure to shock you!

1) Simon Davies

Formerly of clubs like Tottenham, Fulham and the Welsh national team, Simon Davies is still going at the age of 35, and has opted for life in the lower leagues with Solva of Pembrokeshire League Division Two, rather than chasing the big money in Qatar or the US.

2) Adriano

Currently without a club, Adriano has recently played for Atletico Paranaense and is still thought to be keen on playing as he searches for a new team.

3) El Hadji Diouf

Known best for his time in the Premier League with the likes of Liverpool, Bolton and Blackburn, controversial Senagelse forward El Hadji Diouf, 34, is now playing in Malaysia with Sabah FA.

4) Emre Belozoglu

Now 35, Emre Belozoglu has done well for himself in old age, recently playing for big names like Atletico Madrid and Feberbahce, though he has now taken it down a level with little-known Turkish minnows Istanbul Basaksehir.

5) Seydou Keita

Part of that early Pep Guardiola Barcelona side that won the treble, Seydou Keita is another surprise name still playing, albeit not very often for Serie A giants AS Roma.

6) Alvaro Recoba

Probably the most surprising name on this list, Alvaro Recoba, formerly of Inter Milan and the Uruguay national team, is still playing on even at the age of 39, doing a Ryan Giggs for Uruguayan outfit Nacional.

7) Diego Forlan

Long past his best at the top level, Uruguay legend Diego Forlan is still playing at the ripe old age of 36, as he returns to the club where he started his career – Penarol.

8) Kleberson

A World Cup winner who notably flopped at Manchester United, Kleberson, 36, has done little of note since the early 00s, but is still playing in the North American Soccer League, with Indy Eleven.

9) Javier Saviola

Considered a world great for the future during his early days at Barcelona, Javier Saviola totally faded from the spotlight a while ago, but remarkably he continues to play. Still only 33, the Argentine is currently with River Plate.

10) Florent Malouda

Another forgotten player who left Chelsea a few years ago, Florent Malouda has had a number of different clubs since leaving the Blues and is currently with Delhi Dynamos in the Indian Super League, though retirement can’t be far away.
