Cristiano Ronaldo: Chelsea & Man United braced for £70m PSG mega bid

Manchester United have been pursuing Cristiano Ronaldo with everything they can muster, and even Chelsea are believed to be in pursuit of the Real Madrid megastar. Unfortunately for the both of them, they may be forced to compete with a European juggernaut ready to make a massive bid for Ronaldo.

According to the Daily Star, Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as one of the top contenders for Ronaldo at a reported £70 million price tag. The Ligue 1 giants have gained a lot of momentum in the Ronaldo sweepstakes due to recent comments by both the PSG president and Ronaldo’s former Portugal teammate Pauleta.

The Daily Star reported that PSG president Nasser El-Khelaifi recently hinted at his club’s interest in getting a transfer for Ronaldo by coyly stating that any “negotiations would be in secret” even if he does not have any (known) talks going on at the moment.

Pauleta, who played several seasons with Ronaldo for Portugal, recently told Radio Marca that PSG would be one of the best possible fits for him, in large part because of the money they could offer and the opportunity Ronaldo would have to make the team better.

“It would not be a step back in his career,” Pauleta said. “PSG has always been a big club, with huge potential.

“They are one of the few clubs who could afford him, and he would make them a better team.”
