Liverpool predicted lineup vs. Manchester City: Are Benteke & Coutinho Reds’ only hopes as Klopp seeks winning return?

While Manchester City are certainly more vulnerable now than several months ago due to injuries, Liverpool have been hit hard by the injury bug as well.

For Jurgen Klopp to put together a team capable of stopping the seemingly endless depth at Man City’s midfield, he will need to put all of his best scoring threats on the field and hope they can score early (and with any luck, often).

Big summer pickup Christian Benteke is healthy for the first time in what seems like forever, and Philippe Coutinho is playing his best football. Both will need to find a way to play great together to get the much-needed win at Etihad Stadium.

Here is the Liverpool predicted lineup vs. Manchester City this weekend:

GK Simon Mignolet

Surprisingly, Mignolet has actually been more effective away than at home. Three of his four shutouts have been away from Anfield this year.

DF Alberto Moreno

Moreno will be in his usual spot, but can’t afford to be caught out of position.

DF Dejan Lovren

This could be the most important start of Lovren’s season/

DF Martin Skrtel

No change for Liverpool’s defensive mainstay.

DF Nathaniel Clyne

Clyne has played well enough and should continue to do so this game.

MF Emre Can

Can Can control the ball? Yes Can can.

MF James Milner

Finally healthy again, Milner will need another solid performance to keep Liverpool in control.

MF Lucas Leiva

He played the full 90 minutes of their loss to Crystal Palance, but Klopp is determined to keep Leiva in.

MF Adam Lallana

After assisting Liverpool’s lone goal against Crystal Palace, Lallana will get another chance to shine.

MF Philippe Coutinho

Another no brainer, Coutinho is one of Liverpool’s only serious up-front threats.

FW Christian Benteke

Will Benteke feast or famine this week? Time will tell.
