Arsenal set to beat Chelsea to 20-year-old Nice starlet; midfield talent wanted as Coquelin replacement

Injuries are mounting in Arsenal’s midfield at an almost irreplaceable rate, and with the transfer window just around the corner, Arsene Wenger is looking at a bold hijacking of Nice midfielder Vincent Koziello to fill in for his fallen stars.

According to the Metro, the 20-year-old Nice midfielder has emerged as Wenger’s prime target to replace the recently injured Francis Coquelin, who is expected to miss the rest of the 2015 calendar year with a knee injury. Koziello was believed to be on Chelsea’s radar as well, as the Blues have failed to get the expected level of performances from their star midfielders this season.

The Metro noted that Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen are interested in Koziello as well.

Koziello is a quick central midfielder with two goals and two assists to his name so far this season. He recorded his second goal of the season this past weekend against Lyon.

Among the litany of injured Arsenal midfielders are Coquelin, Aaron Ramsey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere – just to name a few.
