Chelsea: Hiddink plots sensational January move for Liverpool forward

According to reports, new Chelsea coach Guus Hiddink is plotting a remarkable transfer approach for Liverpool frontman Christian Benteke during the January transfer window.

The Mirror report that the Blues see the powerful Belgian forward as a key solution to some of the woes that have bedevilled them during the early portion of the campaign, while the former Aston Villa striker could be an able replacement for the out-of-sorts Diego Costa.

The Spanish striker was booed ahead of Chelsea’s game against Sunderland on Saturday and has been linked with the exit door at Stamford Bridge [Independent].

Should Chelsea bid for the 25-year-old, it could represent a sensational transfer u-turn for Benteke, who only moved to Anfield from Villa for £32.5 million during the summer [fee via the Mirror].

The frontman suffered with injury during Brendan Rodgers’ final months at the club, and has fared little better under new boss Jurgen Klopp, struggling to fit into the manager’s plans.

A move to west London could suit all parties, allowing Klopp to raise funds as he looks to remould the Merseyside giants in his own image.
