Man United ready to beat Real Madrid to Ricardo Rodriguez signature

A report in the Metro is claiming that Manchester United are prepared to go to war with Real Madrid over the signature of highly-rated Swiss international full-back Ricardo Rodriguez.

United have been long standing admirers of the 23-year-old, and recently stepped up their interest in his signature as a potential cover from the injured Luke Shaw, though Real Madrid have recently been having him monitored, suggesting that they two are keen on his services.

The defender has already earned 33 caps for his national side, and was snapped up by Bundesliga giants Wolfsburg for £7.5m from Swiss side FC Zurich as a 19-year-old.

He has since become a key member of the side, and according to Spanish publication Sport, Rafa Benitez is keen to bring him to the Bernabeu to act as competition for current left-back Marcelo.

However, he won’t come cheap, as Wolfsburg will surely be aware of how high his stock has risen in recent years.
