Jerome Sinclair scored after 12 minutes on his full debut for Liverpool to get the Reds level after a nightmare start against Exeter City.
The 19-year-old, who had previously made three sub appearances for the Merseyside outfit, fired home from 10 yards after strike partner Christian Benteke had been dispossessed in the penalty area.
Sinclair’s strike brought Liverpool level, after they had fallen behind to a ninth-minute effort by Tom Nichols.
Although Sinclair’s equaliser will have settled many Liverpool nerves, the Premier League side still face a lot of work if they are to avoid a shock defeat, or – possibly worse – a replay.
Manager Jurgen Klopp has made it hard for himself tonight by selecting a very young side, with an average age of less than 23.
Tiago Ilori, Kevin Stewart and Ryan Kent are all making their debuts for the Reds.
