South American forward being targeted by Liverpool as part of Klopp’s summer rebuild

Jurgen Klopp is considering a move for River Plate forward Lucas Alario as he looks to revitalise Liverpool‘s attack this summer.

According to reports in South America, the attacker is being eyed up by the German coach who is set to revamp his squad this summer.

There have been some signs of improvement for the Reds under Klopp since the former Borussia Dortmund manager replaced Brendan Rodgers in October, but the Merseysiders remain inconsistent and after an underwhelming January transfer window, the new man is yet to truly transform the squad and introduce his own personnel.

Forwards such as Christian Benteke, Adam Lallana and Divock Origi are yet to truly convince, while Danny Sturridge and Danny Ings have had their fair share of injury concerns.

According to Infobae, the Reds are set to renew their interest in Alario, having attempted to bring the forward to Anfield earlier in the year.

When original discussions were held between the two clubs, there was an impasse of $4 million in the pair’s valuation of the player, with Liverpool offering $8 million and River holding out for $12 million.
