Icon explains why Mourinho will be super motivated at Manchester United after Chelsea farce

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has predicted that Jose Mourinho will be super motivated to succeed at Old Trafford following the troubled end to his tenure at Chelsea.

The Portuguese coach enjoyed great success during his first spell at Stamford Bridge before a parting of the ways with Roman Abramovich, and restored some of the Blues lost lustre when he returned to guide them to the title in 2014.

However, his second spell at the west London heavyweights ended in controversy and acrimony when he was dismissed in December 2015 with the side wallowing in the bottom half of the table, having wholly failed to defend their EPL crown.

After six months out of action, the manager appears on the brink of a return, with Sky Sports reporting on Friday that Mourinho had already put pen to paper on a contract at Old Trafford.

Writing on his official Facebook page, Ferdinand insisted that the coach’s miserable spell at Stamford Bridge could well spur him on to be a major success at United.

“Jose went from winning the League Cup and Premier League to losing a dressing room at Chelsea and I am certain he will want to restore all of that very quickly,” the ex- England defender began, in his social media post.

Why are Manchester United ashamed of admitting Mourinho signing?

“He will be desperate to silence the media who have been writing and saying negative things about him (he will have stored it all being the competitor he is) and will be as focused as ever,” he continued.

“Mourinho’s huge personality is made for this great club, it’s what he has been waiting for. Wishing him all the best!”
