Mesut Ozil wishes injured teammate speedy recovery

Germany striker Mario Gomez suffered an injury blow tearing his hamstring during the Euro 2016 quarter-final clash against Italy.

Gomez will not be able to play again in France this summer as a result of the injury according to the Guardian.

The German Football Association (DFB) was quoted by the Guardian as saying: “Another appearance for the striker [Mario Gomez] in the Euros is not an option.”

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil took to social media to wish his injured teammate a speedy recovery.

Gomez started against Italy and played a key role in Germany’s opening goal. The Besiktas striker did have two goals for his national team going into the tie but will be unable to add to his tally.

Bastian Schweinsteiger and Sami Khedira also picked up an injury and are both doubts for the semi-final clash against France.

Ozil took to Instagram to wish the trio a speedy recovery and included the following caption, “Get well soon to my 3 @dfb_team mates!.”
