Man City set €8m price tag on star defender and Besiktas target

Besiktas have cooled their interest in Manchester City’s star left-back Aleksandar Kolarov after the Premier League giants set a €8 million price tag – according to NTV Sport – on the Serbia international.

A source close to Besiktas told Caught-Offside’s Eren Sarigul that City are only willing to offload the 30-year-old for a transfer fee and that the Super Lig champions will be priced out of the transfer unless a compromise is reached.

The Black Eagles had initially planned to loan Kolarov but City are keen on a permanent transfer if the experienced full-back is to leave.

Despite being crowned Turkish Super league champions last season, Besiktas conceded more goals than any other side in the top three. The Black Eagles boss Senol Gunes has made strengthening his sides defence a top priority.

Kolarov provided five assists and scored three goals in 39 appearances in all competitions for Manchester City lasts season.

The 30-year-old’s place in Man City’s squad has been cast in doubt following reports in the Daily Mail linking the Premier League club with a move for Wolfsburg’s full-back Ricardo Rodriguez.
