Tottenham Hotspur is often hailed as England’s best football factory, the ultimate production line for youth players.
However, Tottenham’s U23s took a battering on Monday night, losing 6-2 at home to Liverpool.
The result must surely ask questions of the current youth crop at White Hart Lane.
Or perhaps this is just Liverpool’s time?
The Reds were 4-0 up at half time thanks to goals from Harry Wilson, Ben Woodburn, Cameron Brannagan and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Spurs got on the scoresheet through Marcus Edwards to make it 4-1 on 57 minutes, but Brannagan got his second to regain Liverpool’s four-goal lead, before setting up Brooks Lennon for 6-1.
A 96th-minute penalty from Ryan Loft meant that Tottenham had the last word, but that was little consolation on a night that belonged to the Reds.

That’s right… Brannagan had a hand in all six Liverpool goals!
