‘He should move on’ – Arsenal legend tells Gunners star to quit the club

What will Arsenal fans make of this?

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has controversially advised one of the club’s current big-name players to seal a transfer away from the Emirates Stadium.

The former Gunners striker says it could be for the best for Theo Walcott to move on at the next opportunity after falling down in the pecking order this season.

Walcott has made just eight appearances for Arsenal so far this season, failing to start a game in the Premier League and playing the bulk of his football in the Carabao Cup and Europa League.

Despite some flashes of fine form for Arsenal last year, Walcott has been unable to keep the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alex Iwobi out of Wenger’s starting XI in what is a competitive squad of attacking talent.

With a piece of advice that could persuade Walcott to call time on over a decade of service in north London, Wright feels Walcott would be justified in looking to leave for a fresh challenge.

Time for Walcott to leave Arsenal?

Asked if the 28-year-old should leave, Wright told Sky Sports: ‘I think so, for (his own) sake.

‘I’m not sure where he can go now with Arsenal and he’s only playing in the Carabao Cup and the Europa League.

‘He’ll want to finish on a high in respect of what he’s doing, he’s given Arsenal great service in the time he’s been there and for me he should move on for himself.’
