Harry Kane, Eden Hazard, Philippe Coutinho: 50 players who would surely now command a £100m transfer fee, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United stars

Once seen as an astronomical fee, £100million is fast becoming the new normal…

For so long the talk was of when we’d see the first £100million footballer, and then Neymar came along and instantly gave us the first £200m one.

Since then, the transfer market has been inflated significantly beyond what we knew it as before, with Ousmane Dembele moving for roughly £136m just a year after Borussia Dortmund signed him for around a tenth of that fee.

Who next? There’s been plenty of talk of superstar transfers for January or next summer, with speculation now including a growing number of players valued at £100m or more.

We now estimate that there’s at least fifty of the world’s top footballers who could command such a fee.

Read on to see who makes the cut and let us know if you agree!

Harry Kane

One of the deadliest finishers in world football right now, Kane has been linked with a £170m move to Manchester United, while Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has been quoted as saying he’d cost £224m.

Philippe Coutinho

Subject of a number of £100m+ bids in the summer, there is now talk that Philippe Coutinho is set to be targeted for a similar price again this January.

Eden Hazard

One of the best attacking players in the world on his day, Eden Hazard is a crucial performer for Chelsea and if Coutinho moves for around £100m, you’d have to think Hazard would cost just as much, if not more.

Lionel Messi

One of the two best players in the world and up there with the greatest of all time, if Lionel Messi has any price at all it would surely be closer to £300m than £100m.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Likewise, Cristiano Ronaldo is still showing himself to be one of the finest goalscorers of his generation, and doesn’t look like slowing down. Despite turning 33 this season, you’d expect him to cost well over £100m.

Sergio Aguero

A crucial part of this Manchester City side (even if Pep Guardiola doesn’t always see it) you’d expect Sergio Aguero to command a fee somewhere in the £100m mark.

Antoine Griezmann

If not for his release clause of £89m that comes into effect next summer, Atletico Madrid could surely charge astronomical sums for Antoine Griezmann.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

If Borussia Dortmund were able to charge £136m for Dembele this summer, how much could they get for pacey goal machine Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang?

Neymar

Already moving to PSG for £200m, if Neymar continues this kind of form, it would surely cost even more than that for any future suitors to prise him away.

Marco Verratti

Linked with an £80m move to Barcelona in the summer before the transfer market exploded, Marco Verratti is one of the best in the world in his position and could come very close indeed to commanding a £100m+ fee.

Robert Lewandowski

There are few better all-round strikers in the game right now, and Bayern Munich could certainly make a very healthy profit if they decided to sell a player they actually signed for free from Borussia Dortmund in 2014.

Thomas Muller

Despite being frozen out by previous manager Carlo Ancelotti, Thomas Muller is on his way to becoming a Bayern Munich and Germany legend. They’d surely never consider selling him, but if they did it would likely take £100m or more.

Dele Alli

A rising star of the English game, Dele Alli has proven a superb signing for Spurs and would likely bring in an enormous profit for the club if they cashed in on him now.

Christian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen remains one of Spurs’ most underrated stars, but they surely know all too well that he’s now up there with the best playmakers in the world and should be valued in the same bracket as someone like Coutinho.

Sadio Mane

Immense since he signed for Liverpool, Sadio Mane would surely have cost around double what the Reds paid Southampton for him if he’d moved this summer, and they could surely get £100m or more for him.

Gianluigi Donnarumma

A young goalkeeper who looks set for legendary status, AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma has already been talked about as a £120m player after his remarkable rise at the San Siro.

Julian Draxler

Although PSG would likely sell for less due to their needs to meet Financial Fair Play, one can well imagine an in-form Julian Draxler starting regularly for any other club would certainly be a £100m player in this market.

Paulo Dybala

Already linked with £100m moves to Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona, Paulo Dybala looks a future Ballon d’Or winner in the making and if he moves his price tag will reflect that.

Gonzalo Higuain

Dybala’s strike partner at Juventus, Gonzalo Higuain has already moved for £75m and shows no signs of slowing down. Despite his age, Juve would surely demand at least £100m from any interested clubs now.

Karim Benzema

Having just signed a new contract, Karim Benzema remains a hugely important part of this Real Madrid side and easily a £100m+ player.

Thiago Alcantara

Recently linked with a return to Barcelona, Thiago Alcantara has got over his injuries to become a world-beater for Bayern Munich, who could expect around £100m if they were to let him go.

Toni Kroos

Another elite midfield playmaker at the top of his game, Toni Kroos has won the lot in his relatively short career so far, and must now be in the £100m+ bracket.

Gabriel Jesus

What a signing Gabriel Jesus has proven to be, with the prolific Manchester City youngster looking another destined to become the best in the world and surely hugely expensive if he were ever to move.

Raheem Sterling

Already moving for £44m a good few years before transfer fees truly spiraled out of control, Raheem Sterling must be worth more than double that now after his explosive start to this season.

Leroy Sane

Another superb piece of business by Manchester City, Leroy Sane has been one of their best players this term and will certainly not come cheap if he moves to a European powerhouse any time soon.

Yannick Carrasco

Superb since moving to Atletico Madrid, Yannick Carrasco has also been talked about as a £100m+ purchase in recent times. While not quite in the world class bracket, it just goes to show how the market has changed.

N’Golo Kante

A one-man midfield, N’Golo Kante looks one of the bargains of the century after moving to Chelsea for just £30m last summer. Not that Chelsea would even consider letting him go, but he’d easily be over £100m in this market.

Naby Keita

One of the finest midfielders in Europe at the moment, Naby Keita was targeted by Liverpool for around £80m this summer, with RB Leipzig refusing to budge. In the end, they triggered a release clause of £48m that comes into effect next summer, but it could easily have been £100m if they’d really gone for him this year.

Edinson Cavani

A vastly underrated centre-forward continuing to boss it for PSG, Edinson Cavani must be worth £100m or thereabouts, though he possibly loses value due to his age.

Mohamed Salah

One of the bargains of this summer’s transfer window, Mohamed Salah has got off to a great start for this struggling Liverpool side, and his potential if playing for a bigger club surely makes him worth £100m or more.

David de Gea

He might be a goalkeeper, but there are few better than him in world football right now, and he’s been talked about in a potential £100m transfer to Real Madrid in the past.

Marcus Rashford

A young player with the world at his feet, Manchester United could surely ask for around £100m for Marcus Rashford before too long, with some talk that Real Madrid are already interested.

Isco

Despite a slow start at the Bernabeu, Isco is now one of Real Madrid’s most important players and starting to look like the elite playmaker he seemed destined to come during his days as a youngster at Malaga.

Marco Asensio

Another rising star at Real Madrid, Marco Asensio has a release clause worth around £300m, suggesting the Spanish giants would ask for well over £100m if he were to move now.

Kylian Mbappe

Set to cost £167m when his transfer to PSG becomes permanent next summer, Kylian Mbappe is an obvious name for this list, as it immediately became clear he could become one of the most expensive players ever after his outstanding season for Monaco last year.

Thomas Lemar

Another member of that superb Monaco side, Thomas Lemar came close to moving to Arsenal for around £80m in the summer, and if he has another season like the one he had last year, he’ll easily cost £100m or more.

Alexis Sanchez

If not for his contract situation, Alexis Sanchez would surely be close to £150m in this market, with Arsenal even able to turn down around £60m for him in the summer just a year ahead of potentially losing him on a free.

Christian Pulisic

A young talent who could be up there with Mbappe before long, Christian Pulisic is another huge prospect who’d likely prove well worth the investment if he moved for £100m or so now.

Joshua Kimmich

The latest exciting talent coming through at Bayern Munich, Joshua Kimmich is another player they’ll likely do all they can to keep, but £100m or so would likely be the going rate.

Saul

Linked with a £71.5m move to Chelsea, Saul is supposedly not going to be granted a move unless clubs meet his £134m release clause at Atletico Madrid.

Romelu Lukaku

Jose Mourinho said he’d cost around double the £75m United paid Everton for him this summer, and given how Romelu Lukaku has played this season, he’d be well worth it.

Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba became the most expensive player ever at £89m just over a year ago, and he’s another United would surely have paid close to double that for if he’d moved this year.

Kevin De Bruyne

Arguably the star player of Manchester City’s season, it’s bizarre to think Chelsea let Kevin De Bruyne go for just £16m three years ago, with the Belgian surely now worth £150m or more.

Alvaro Morata

Moving to Chelsea for somewhere between £60-70m this summer, think how much Alvaro Morata would cost now as a regular starter for the Blues instead of a super-sub at Real Madrid.

Mauro Icardi

One of the top strikers in Europe for a few years now, Mauro Icardi looks to be taking his game to a new level this season and could soon be talked about as a £100m player.

Casemiro

Vastly underrated by many fans around the globe, people are starting to wake up to what a big talent Casemiro is, and Real Madrid would surely easily get at least £100m for him now.

Manuel Neuer

Perhaps the best goalkeeper on the planet, Manuel Neuer surely doesn’t even have a price at Bayern Munich, but they could charge pretty much whatever they liked.

Thibaut Courtois

Ditto for Chelsea shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois, who has been consistently one of the top ‘keepers on the planet over the last four years.

Ousmane Dembele

Moving for £136m this summer, Ousmane Dembele looks a major talent who will only cost more if he moves again any time soon.

Gareth Bale

Costing £86m back in 2013, Gareth Bale may not have had things all his own way at Real Madrid, but remains a player easily worth £100m or more when he’s at peak fitness and form.
