The German tactician is now set to miss training with the Reds today, and could require further check-ups over the next few days.
Liverpool host Southampton at Anfield on Saturday, and it remains to be seen if that game will come too soon for Klopp.
In their statement, Liverpool declined to go into details on Klopp’s condition, saying: ‘The club urges that the privacy of Jürgen, his family and other patients is respected while attending hospital visits.’

Liverpool are no strangers to this kind of problem, with Gerard Houllier spending some time away from the dugout during his time in charge on Merseyside.
It is not yet clear if Klopp’s condition is anywhere near as serious, but Houllier ended up needing an emergency heart operation and had a less active role in the management of the team for five months, with assistant Phil Thompson stepping up in his place.
