Confirmed: Arsenal trio sign new contracts in big boost to Arsene Wenger

Arsenal have today announced new contracts for three players as youngsters Eddie Nketiah, Ben Sheaf and Matt Macey commit their futures to the Gunners.

Arsenal.com confirmed the news this afternoon, in what looks a big boost for manager Arsene Wenger even if questions remain over more senior members of his squad.

The Gunners have a proud record of promoting top young players into their side, with Hector Bellerin and Alex Iwobi among the most successful recent examples.

Jack Wilshere and Cesc Fabregas are also reasonably strong success stories under Wenger, while Nketiah has made something of a breakthrough for the club this term, along with the likes of Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who’ve all seen more playing time.

Former Chelsea striker Nketiah scored twice on just his second senior appearance for Arsenal, helping them to a Carbao Cup win over Norwich City back in October.

The 18-year-old looks one of the biggest talents coming through at the Emirates Stadium right now, though Sheaf and Macey could also have their chance in the first-team before too long.

Arsenal fans will hope now that progress can also be made on Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Wilshere, all of whom are nearing becoming free agents at the end of this season.
