Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw is reportedly seeking a £5million pay-off to leave the club in the January transfer window in a saga that could end up irritating Jose Mourinho.
The England international has been frozen out of the first-team picture by Mourinho since his arrival at Old Trafford, and various recent reports have linked him with an imminent move away.
The Sun recently claimed Newcastle could be interested in Shaw, but not at his £20million asking price, in a further blow to Mourinho’s plans to ditch the former Southampton man.
According to the latest from the Sun, the 22-year-old is aware he is unlikely to earn what he’s currently on at United elsewhere, so wants one final pay day from the Red Devils before moving on.

The report claims this is more than double what the club are prepared to offer him, so it’s unclear how this will affect their plans to get rid of him.
In terms of a replacement, United have been linked by the Daily Express with a move for Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, who would be a major upgrade in that position.
Ashley Young may feel hard done by, however, looking one of United’s most improved performers since making the switch to a new role at left-back or wing-back.
