€115m Man Utd and Chelsea target reports back to training late, agent clears up situation

Amid speculation linking him with a move to Man Utd or Chelsea, Lazio ace Sergej Milinkovic-Savic fuelled the rumours after reporting back to training later than planned.

As per the Manchester Evening News, the Serbian international continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford, having established himself as one of the top talents in Europe with his performances for club and country.

The 23-year-old bagged 14 goals and nine assists in 48 appearances for Lazio last season, while he played a starring role for Serbia at the World Cup earlier this summer too.

Coupled with his physicality, technical quality, attacking threat and overall room for improvement, it’s no surprise that he’s attracting interest with Calciomercato reporting that Chelsea are also interested in him and have a €115m offer ready, and they were seemingly given hope of a transfer after he failed to board a flight on his way to reporting back for a medical this week to kick-start his pre-season.

Naturally, that would have sparked further talk that he was perhaps angling for a move away from the Stadio Olimpico, giving Chelsea and Man Utd hope that they could prise him to the Premier League this summer.

However, as reported by Football Italia, his agent, Mateja Kezman, has cleared up the matter and insisted that there is an innocent explanation for his client’s late return to Rome.

“Sergej missed the flight because of a terrible road accident in Belgrade, which blocked the traffic,” he is quoted as saying. “There are absolutely no problems. He will arrive in Rome tomorrow, start his medical tests and then his preparation.”

That would therefore end talk of Milinkovic-Savic pushing for an exit, but it remains to be seen whether or not Lazio’s resolve is tested as the report above from Calciomercato does suggest that a bid is incoming from Chelsea specifically.
