Centre-back Sokratis had a first half to forget for Arsenal in this afternoon’s London Derby against West Ham, with a lacklustre defensive display leading to some fans labelling the 30-year-old summer signing a ‘waste’.

The Greek defender joined Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund this summer for a fee reported to be £17.7m as per The Guardian. Sokratis had been a staple of Dortmund’s defence in recent years but has so far failed to impress Gunners fans during his short time with the north London side.
Check out some reaction to the defender’s poor 1st half showing:
Sokratis has got to be the biggest waste of space since Mustafi…oh wait ?

Sokratis is just a waste of 20 million pounds…. At this rate it even seems Mustafi is better than him

Another day, another day to see how big a waste of money Sokratis is.

Marko Arnautovic opened the scoring for the Hammers with a great finish from outside the box before Nacho Monreal equalised.
The Spaniard’s strike was a landmark one, as it is the first goal to be scored at the Emirates by the Gunners under manager Unai Emery.
Arsenal look no closer to stamping out the defensive worries they have suffered with under new manager Unai Emery, something that won’t fill Gunners fans with confidence as their side look to push themselves back into contention for a top four finish this campaign.
