Tottenham set to meet with club to discuss £40m transfer this week

Tottenham Hotspur have been constantly linked with a move for the Sporting Lisbon defender Pedro Porro.

According to a report from the Mirror, the Londoners have now agreed on personal terms with the 23-year-old and they will be hoping to secure an agreement with his club now.

Apparently, the Premier League side are set to meet with the Sporting Lisbon hierarchy this week in order to agree on a fee.

The Portuguese club are reportedly holding out for a fee of around £40 million plus add-ons. On the other hand, Tottenham are prepared to send a player on loan to Sporting and offer £27 million in cash.

The 23-year-old would be a major upgrade on players like Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty. He has 10 assists across all competitions and Conte needs a quality attacking full-back like him.

Spurs need to strengthen their squad adequately if they want to secure a top-four finish and the arrival of Porro could prove to be a major boost for the London club.

Porro would add a new dimension to the Tottenham attack and he is a reliable defender as well. The 23-year-old is far from his peak and he is only going to get better with coaching and experience.

Meanwhile, the Londoners are hoping to secure the signing of Leandro Trossard from Brighton in order to beef up their attacking options and it remains to be seen whether they can get their desired signings across the line before the January transfer window slams shut.
