West Ham looking to sign Southampton main player this summer

Despite the lack of a relegation release clause in James Ward-Prowse’s Southampton contract, the Saints are expecting offers, with West Ham United among those interested.

With seven goals and two assists this season, the Saints’ star and England international has excelled in his position but he hasn’t yet been able to save his team from an unavoidable relegation fate.

The midfielder is open to leaving St. Mary’s this summer, according to a report by 90min published on April 18. The club is willing to sell him for roughly £50 million, though that number might undoubtedly drop given Southampton’s likely relegation.

Daily Mail claims Ward Prowse doesn’t have a clause on his contract and clubs like West Ham or Villa might pounce for him.

“Mail Sport can reveal that did not include a clause which would allow the midfielder to leave for a set fee in the event of Premier League relegation — a fate that was sealed after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat by Fulham.

“Saints’ insiders say they want to keep Ward-Prowse, who is admired by Aston Villa, West Ham and Tottenham”, the report reveals.
