Those lucky Everton fans are the latest to experience such joy, as Mikel Arteta has been quoted in Spanish rag AS as hoping to play for Athletico Madrid someday.
“To play with Atletico Madrid has been my dream for several years,” he told AS.
Course, it’s always a tad unrealistic to think any of your players have always dreamt of playing for your club unless you’re one of a very select group – especially for foreign players in the Premiership. And Arteta isn’t demanding a transfer, he’s simply being honest – and who can fault him for that? Besides legions of Everton supporters, that is.
