Latest Transfer Rumours: Ferdinand, Robben, Ronaldo, Wright-Philips, Pique and Babich

The world of Premiership transfer rumours is full of nonsense, but some nonsense is more interesting that the other nonsense. Speculation is rife in the likes of the Mirror, Daily Mail, Times, Sun and… err… Tribal Football all do their best to predict and/or completely make up the future.

Here’s our opinion on the rumours we’ve read in the papers and around the net… and if you have any thoughts, pop em in the comments.

CaughtOffside Says:

CaughtOffside Says: Supposedly the kid regards Scotland as his second home, and his family is making a good education the priority in his next club. We expect that to change when that 40K a week offer arrives in the mail.

CaughtOffside Says: Almost certainly just some election-related propaganda, Ronaldo has been making all the noises that he’s staying with the Reds and there really is no footballing or monetary reason to bugger off just yet. He’s young, he’s not stupid, and he’ll stay for another couple years. The Glazers also aren’t stupid enough to accept the offer, losing their best player and pissing off their legendary manager and entire fanbase in the process.

CaughtOffside Says: Robben is what people THINK Ronaldo is, a player who looks to go down first and keep running second. Still, he’s an incredible talent who has already said he wouldn’t hesitate to move elsewhere if things weren’t going as he’d like at Chelsea – with Barcelona’s popularity with the Dutch, we can see this one happening.

CaughtOffside Says: We really can’t see Mourinho giving up both Robben and SWP, but the latter is the more likely to leave even though he’s being given a chance these days – unless Jose wants to keep him just to stick it to everyone. Everton would be a great destination for Wright-Philips, a hard working midfield would take the load off him and he’d get plenty of matches to work himself back into the England fold. Mourinho could then sign someone he actually likes, and everyone wins.

CaughtOffside Says: Pique is a quality talent and has been immense for Zaragoza, but Ferdinand-Vidic isn’t going being broken up anytime soon. Another year’s loan at the Spanish club looks most likely to us.
