Everyone saw the Premiership matches they cared about, and it’s a rather lengthy process trudging through the match reports of every club that matters little to you – especially if you’re still carrying the stench of defeat.

This week it could be that West Ham’s season really could not have been written any more ironically, that Sammy Lee earned himself at least a year at Bolton, that for once Tottenham didn’t bottle it, or that the relegation finale once again proved more dramatic than the Champions League ever will be.
