The Times is reporting that Michael Owen could be back much sooner than expected. Whereas this weekend it was Gareth Southgate cursing his luck that ‘Boro had to meet Everton on the day of Arteta’s return, the tables have now turned and Moyes must be cursing the fact that Owen could be back to face them.
A surely chuffed Big Sam said:
“If he proves his fitness for the Everton game then he is fit enough to play…We’ll see how he develops when he gets back from Germany and see if he is fit enough to play.”
If he pulls this one off it won’t only be Big Sam whooping and dancing around like a delirious David Pleat, it’ll be Steve McClaren too. No word yet from St James’ Park about these incredible events, a player back from injury before he is expected, surely a previously unobserved phenomenon at Newcastle United.
