Jewell heading back to Wigan?

Aren’t reunions wonderful? Well, no, they aren’t. Just ask anyone that has heard the new Spice Girls single. Paul Jewell and Dave Whelan obviously haven’t, as they are planning on rekindling their love. Listen to the love flow in The Guardian:

Paul Jewell may be ready to return to Wigan Athletic after confirming that he is prepared to consider “any offers” that come his way and his former chairman at the club, Dave Whelan, later made it clear that he would welcome him back to the Premier League strugglers.

Whelan said that the 43-year-old Jewell would “absolutely” be his first choice to fill the managerial vacancy at the JJB Stadium after the departure of Chris Hutchings. The chairman added: “If he applied for the job I’d certainly love to talk to Paul. I had a great relationship with him. I’m delighted because if he is interested I’ll be talking to him, certainly.”

Get a room. But don’t go buying your wedding hats just yet:

Jewell insists he has had no contact with Wigan but is ready to return to the game. “I have seen little of the press because I am in Dubai playing golf so I was surprised to learn I have apparently been offered my old job back at Wigan,” he said.

“Let me make it quite clear, I have had no contact with the chairman or anyone at the club for that matter. But after six months away from management I am ready and willing to return to work. Any offers that come my way I will consider and I firmly believe I will return to football refreshed and a better manager.”

Don’t do it Paul, it’s never as good the second time around.
