Manchester United could lose Nemanja Vidic

Club v country. Usually a debate about whether a player can be bothered to turn up for friendly when it is easier to say they’ve really hurt their toe and stay at home with the misses. Very rarely do they’ve have to actually choose between club and country, playing on the same day. And the manager who might be losing a player is the one man more than anyone who has a history shafting national teams with perfectly timed knocks on his players, Alex Ferguson. The unlucky player? Nemanja Vidic.

You see, Serbia’s game with Kazakhstan has been rescheduled for Saturday due to snow and that day Man Utd are meant to be facing Bolton. But Fergie still may have a hope of fielding his burly centre-back in the clash of the titans game against Bolton. According to the BBC:

However, if Serbia fail to beat group leaders Poland, or Portugal take a point from Finland on Wednesday, the Kazakhstan tie will be meaningless.

That would raise the possibility of Vidic being freed by his country to rejoin the United squad for their Premier League encounter with Gary Megson’s Bolton.
