Does Drogba Injury Signal End of Chelsea’s Title Challenge?

It’s the news that no Chelsea fan wanted to hear. As reported by The Times, Didier Drogba is set to be sidelined for several months with a knee injury. This represents a crippling blow to the Blues’ title hopes this season, whose strikeforce looks severely depleted without their Ivorian hotshot.

A decision on whether to operate immediately or patch him up in the hope of getting him through the Christmas period will be made in the next few days.

The decision to take the latter route may be a tempting one for Avram Grant and his medical staff, especially with Drogba already scheduled to play African Nations Cup football in January. However, Drogba is fiercely passionate about playing for the Ivory Coast and forms the lynchpin of the team as captain. Therefore, the club could be without him for up to three months, is it conceivable that they can win the Premier League without him?
