Legend Gives His Views On The State Of Liverpool’s Team

Liverpool’s supreme goalscoring legend Ian Rush has backed Peter Crouch to have a huge influence on which way Liverpool’s season swings, and praised him for manfully sitting tight on the bench. Rush said:

“He has done nothing wrong. Every time he has played for Liverpool he has been superb. He’s a fantastic different option for Liverpool and England and has never let Liverpool down. “He [Benitez] can’t ask Peter Crouch to do anything else. He has done exactly what he’s been asked to do but he’s got to be patient. He has become a better player simply by being at Liverpool Football Club.”

And as for the January sales, Rush reckons that Rafa doesn’t need to spend, especially with Agger and Alonso returning from injury. Rush said:

“I don’t think they need more than two players. When they get Agger back it’ll be like having a new player and when they get Alonso back it’ll be like having a new player. They’re sound at the back, sound in goal and quite comfortable up front. It depends how the injuries go but I don’t they need more than two players. I think their main priority will be a centre-back.”

All of which leaves Liverpool nicely positioned for a concerted attack on the Premier League summit.
