Blackburn and Newcastle Scrap to Sign Davids

As we get ever closer to the January transfer window, Premier League clubs are starting to jostle in the queue for various overseas players. One such player attracting interesting from Blackburn and Newcastle is South African midfielder Lance Davids. As reported by This is Lancashire, the 20-year-old has sampled the delights of Ewood Park and will now try the North-East for size.

“Things went very well at Blackburn and Mark Hughes has already asked me to return for a few days,” said Davids.

“I will now be at Newcastle for a few days and hopefully I can make a good impression there as well.

“I feel that, at this stage of my career, I would like to move to a bigger club and Djurgardens know this.

“I have their full backing, although they would like to keep me for at least another season.”

Both teams are currently mid-table in the Premier League, with Rovers four points better off than the Magpies at this stage. Although Newcastle are perceived as the bigger club, will the presence of fellow South African Benni McCarthy at Ewood Park sway Davids into signing for Mark Hughes’ team instead?
