Manchester United are set to make a summer swoop for Feyenoord’s Jordy Clasie.

The youngster has been putting in some impressive performances for the Dutch giants this season and is rapidly becoming one of the most sought after players in the game.

Reports in recent weeks have linked the player with a number of top European sides, with Tottenham and Fiorentina thought to be leading the chase for the player’s signature.

Fiorentina are thought to have already had a bid turned down for Clasie, with Feyenoord keen to wait until the end of the season before deciding the player’s future.

The Dutch giants are keen to weigh up their options and receive bids from other clubs before deciding which bid to accept.

Fiorentina are thought to have made a bid in the region of £5.6 million after having an initial bid of £4.3 million turned down.

Tottenham are thought to be ready to match that should they fail in their attempts to sign Blackpool’s Tom Ince.

The pint sized Feyenoord man has been dubbed the ‘Dutch Xavi’, such is the high regard those in the know have for the 21 year old box to box midfielder.

As well as his battling qualities Clasie is not short of creative flair and has also impressed since breaking into the Dutch national team set-up.

Though Feyenoord are mounting a genuine title challenge they are still realistic about the possibility of keeping their top talents when any of Europe’s ‘Elite’ come calling and could be ready to listen to offers, especially if said talents push for the chance to secure a Premier League move.

Tottenham & Fiorentina may now find themselves muscled out of the race for the youngster after Sir Alex Ferguson earmarked Clasie as a player who could make a significant impact on the United side in the future.
