Guernsey have pulled off a sensation coup by persuading Matt Le Tissier to come out of retirement according to The Daily Mail.

The former England star is honorary president of the Channel Islands side and looks set to appear for the club before the end of the season.

Guernsey face a gruelling end to the season as they come to terms with a fixture pile-up. The team are currently scheduled to play eighteen games in the space of a month and former Southampton star Le Tissier has now signed forms with the club that will allow him to play a role in their end of season run in.

Le Tissier appeared on the pitch in 2002 for Southampton. The forward made over 400 appearances for the team and became a cult hero at the club.

Since hanging up his boots, Le Tissier has become a regular on Sky Sports but now looks set to return to the pitch.

Le Tissier was not considered a great goalscorer but rather a scorer of great goals. The player is fondly remembered by Southampton for his sublime technique and audacious volleyed goals.
