Arsenal’s interest in Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic has been revived after the Italian club hinted that they could be tempted into dropping his asking price according to The Daily Star.

There was strong speculation suggesting that both Arsenal and Juventus were close to agreeing a deal for Jovetic earlier in the summer.

But both those rumours went cold after Fiorentina refused to budge on their £25 million asking price leading Juventus to sign Carlos Tevez and Arsenal to pursue Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain.

Arsenal have since found themselves priced out of a move for Higuain after Madrid remanded nearly £30 million for the Argentine striker and so they will instead look to return for Montenegrin international Jovetic.

It seems that Juventus will not be challenging the Gunners for his signature with Fiorentina citing the two clubs’ ‘difficult relationship’.

But it now appears that Manchester City are ready to enter the race for the player. New City boss Manuel Pellegrini is a firm admirer of Jovetic and has reportedly identified the attacking positions as somewhere the squad needs strengthening.

He could use City’s financial muscle to blow Arsenal out of the water so the Gunners will have to move fast if they hope to secure a deal.
