Reds have been tracking attacker closely for some time now.

Premier League giants Liverpool look like beating the rest of Europe to the signature of highly rated young Halmstads front man Valmir Berisha, aka the  ‘next Ibrahimovic’, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The Swede has recently come to the attentions of a whole host of big-name clubs across the Continent after starring for his country at the recent FIFA Under-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

And none more so than against Argentina in the third-place playoff in which Berisha managed to score a brilliant hat-trick as the 17-year-old wonderkid finished as the top scorer in the tournament with seven goals in his seven appearances for Sweden.

As a result, it now appears as though Reds head coach Brendan Rodgers has stolen a march on the likes of Premier League rivals Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as La Liga giants Real Madrid and the Serie A duo of Juventus and Inter Milan too.

And that is because it is understood that the Northern Irishman has offered Berisha the immediate opportunity to compete for a place in the Merseysiders’ first team if he agrees to move to Anfield, something all of the other interested parties in the player were said to not be prepared to do.

“The most important is the football education, I believe England would be the best option,” he said. “I have rejected clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United, who have invited me for trials.

“There is Real Madrid now, the club of my dreams – I am keen to go there, but I think I will turn it down, unfortunately.”
