Key Liverpool Centre Back Being Targeted By Serie A Giants For January Move

Dane has found himself warming the substitutes’ bench on Merseyside of late.

Serie A outfit Napoli are interested in signing out-of-favour Liverpool defender Daniel Agger on a six-month loan deal when the winter transfer window opens again for business in the new year, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The highly rated Denmark international has only been used as a bit-part player so far in this campaign by Reds head coach Brendan Rodgers, which is why the Napoli manager Rafa Benitez is thought to be confident of being reunited with Agger once again, with the Spaniard the man who first brought the centre back to Anfield from Bronby seven years ago.

Agger has featured in just the nine matches in total in all competitions for the Merseyside giants this season, eight of which have come in the Premier League, however, recently Rodgers has preferred to go with Martik Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho as his first-choice central-defensive partnership.

As a result, the high-flying Serie A outfit will now try and persuade their Premier League counterparts to allow the 29-year-old to move to Southern Italy for the second half of this campaign, with a view to then possibly signing the central defender on a permanent contract next summer.
