Premier League leaders Arsenal are on the verge of signing in-demand young Auxerre front man Paul-Georges Ntep in the January transfer window, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The north London club have been heavily linked with the France Under-21 international in recent weeks, especially with the Gunners known to be in urgent need of a new striker to bring to the Emirates to help provide back up to current first choice Olivier Giroud in attack for the second half of the campaign.

The prolific France international has only just returned from a layoff following an injury to his ankle, however, Wenger has also recently lost the services of both Denmark international Nicklas Bednter and England international Theo Walcott to injuries.

And now it appears as though the Frenchman could be about the enter the transfer market, at least if Rennes youth-team player Ousame Dembele is to be believed after he tweeted that Ntep had already agreed to join Arsenal this month, and that the attacking starlet would then be loaned straight back to the Ligue 1 outfit for the second half of this campaign.

Ntep, 21, has a contract with Auxerre that currently runs until June 2015.
