The Ivory Coast international has been heavily linked with a number of Premier League clubs in recent weeks, including Tottenham’s fierce north London rivals Arsenal too.

However, it now appears as though it will be Spurs head coach Tim Sherwood who wins the race for the 28-year-old’s signature this month as the club go in search of more firepower up front at White Hart Lane for the second half of the campaign.

And Kalou himself has been in fine form in front of goal since signing for Lille on a free transfer from Chelsea in the summer of 2012, with the attacker having so far managed to register an impressive 22 goals and eight assists in total in his 57 matches in all competitions for the club, including an equally eye-catching 20 strikes and seven assists in his 48 Ligue 1 outings for Lille.

Kalou is currently contracted to the Northern French side until June 2016 and has a buyout clause estimated to be worth £2.6m.
