Southampton have suspended record signing Pablo Osvaldo for two weeks following a training ground bust-up with defender Jose Fonte according to the Daily Mail.

The Argentine born Italian international cost the South Coast side £15m last summer and proven something of a flop netting just three goals in 13 Premier League fixtures.

By all accounts Osvaldo had been the subject of some rough treatment by Fonte during a practice match and after one tackle too many is said to have snapped, and a ‘brutal’ altercation then ensued.

Reports suggest there was ‘blood everywhere’ following the incident and Southampton have moved swiftly to ban Osvaldo, releasing the following statement.

‘Southampton Football Club has today suspended striker Dani Osvaldo for two weeks, following an incident at the club’s Staplewood training ground.

‘The club has taken swift and proper action for what it considers a breach of the conduct expected of its players.

‘Southampton will be making no further comment on this matter.’

The incident may encourage Saint boss Mauricio Pochettino to consider offers for the former AS Roma man this month.
