Senegalese is currently out of favour at St James’ Park.

Runaway Turkish league leaders Fenerbahce want to sign out-of-favour Newcastle United front man Papiss Cisse, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The Istanbul-based club are currently leading the Turkish top flight by a whopping 19 points from arch rivals and defending champions Galatasaray, and now the club want to ensure they win the title by landing Cisse.

However, Fenerbahce only have until Monday afternoon to be able to complete the deal, as that is when the Turkish transfer window closes for business for the season.

And at the moment, there are still some differences of opinion regarding just how much the 28-year-old is worth, with Fenerbahce having so far lodged an offer of £6m with the Magpies for the striker.

But it is understood that the north-east giants are in actual fact holding out for a fee closer to the £10m mark, with the Geordies having already turned down two offers worth £8m from both Russian side Rubin Kazin and Turkish outfit Trazbonspor for Cisse on transfer deadline day.

One area though that is not thought to be an issue is the player’s current £40,000 per week wage packet, which Fenerbahce are said to be happy to pick up were a deal to go through.
