The Premier League champions are currently enduring a disappointing top-flight campaign at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils even in danger of missing out on a top-four league finish come the end of the season, and with it a place in the Uefa Champions League.

As a result, new United head coach David Moyes has now been promised a whopping £150m transfer war chest by the club’s American owners the Glazer family this summer in order to rebuild the first-team squad at the Theatre of Dreams.

And top of the Scot’s wish list are understood to be the Dortmund midfield pair of Gundogan and Marco Reus, with United said to be confident of luring one of those two coveted Germany internationals to the north west next season by offering the Bundesliga outfit the chance to re-sign playmaker Shinji Kagawa.

The Japanese has failed to settle at United since leaving Dortmund to join the Premier League giants in the summer of 2012, and the club feel that the player could now be the key to persuading the Germans to sell them either of their two star men.
