The Red Devils have been keeping close tabs on both the Serie A champions’ star men for some time now with a view to signing the pair for next season.

In fact, new United head coach David Moyes has even flown to Turin on several occasions in the recent past in order to personally run his eye over the France and Chile internationals.

However, United are set to face stiff competition for the midfielders’ signature come the end of the campaign from los Blancos, with the Old Lady of Italian Football’s general manager Beppe Marotta even paying a visit to the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday ahead of Italy’s friendly international with world champions Spain at the Vincente Calderon later that day.

But the Italian was giving little away though when quizzed on the purpose of his trip to the Spanish capital, telling Sky Italia: “Today I did visit Real Madrid, but even if I had spoken about Pogba and Vidal I wouldn’t tell you.”
