Spaniard is contracted to Old Trafford until 2016.

Premier League champions Manchester United are determined to keep in-demand goalkeeper David de Gea out of the clutches of both La Liga giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona by offering the young Spaniard a new bumper contract at Old Trafford, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The former Spain Under-23 international has once again enjoyed an outstanding campaign between the sticks for the Red Devils, with De Gea being one of the Premier League giants’ most consistent performers so far in what has been an otherwise disappointing campaign for the club.

However, that eye-catching form in goal for United has not gone unnoticed back in the Spaniard’s homeland, where both the La Liga champions FC Barcelona and their great rivals from Madrid are said to be pondering a move for De Gea with both outfits known to be in need of a new keeper next season.

But United head coach David Moyes is now hoping to counteract Madrid and Barca’s interest in his No 1 by offering De Gea a new deal on £90,000 per week in order to keep the 23-year-old in the north west long term.
