Scot is facing calls to be sacked.

Former Ajax and FC Barcelona star Ronald de Boer believes that his compatriot Louis van Gaal would be the ideal man to take over from under-pressure Manchester United head coach David Moyes, according to reports in the Metro.

The Scot is facing calls for him to be sacked by the Red Devils, despite only taking the job at the start of the campaign.

However, if the Premier League champions do decide to part company with Moyes, then De Boer has absolutely no doubt that Van Gaal could transform the club’s fortunes.

“He is one of the best coaches in the world and can really prepare a team,” said De Boer, who is now an Ajax youth coach.

“He can find weakness in any opponent and present them with solid opposition as he analyses the game really well.

“He has so much quality he would be successful in England, especially if he is given time to set out his team.

“At Bayern he won the Bundesliga and got to the final of the Champions League with young players like Thomas Muller, Holger Badstuber and others.

“No one had heard of them but now everyone is talking about them. He has an eye for talent.”
