As predicted Liverpool striker Luis Suarez picked up the 2013/14 PFA Player of the Year award after an astonishing successful campaign.

As well as scoring an astonishing 30 goals in 30 Premier League appearances the 27 year old is also the leading assist maker in the top tier.

Suarez becomes the first Liverpool player to clinch the award since Steven Gerrard back in 2005/06 and the first South American to have ever picked up the prestigious gong.

The 27 year old did however have an uncharacteristically bad performance earlier on Sunday as he failed to spark life into the Liverpool attack as the Anfield side slumped to a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Chelsea, a result that blows the Premier League title race wide open.
